W e l c o m e !
I am a garden soft landscaper. This means that I have good plant knowledge and can help you choose, and do the on going care for, all types of plants: small trees, shrubs, perennial plants, bulbs, exotics and alpines.
My principal aim is to help you maximize the beauty of your garden at all times of year. And my principal skill is a sense of colour and the main principles of plant design in beds, borders, and pots.
I have eight years' experience of cultivating, and pruning, old-fashioned and species roses and I have tended - and chosen the plants for - beds and borders visited by the public. I have become aware that a great planting scheme contains evergreen/variegated leaf plants and foliage of diverse size, shape, and texture. The colour of the bloom is just one consideration; when the flowers have faded, it is the structure of the plant and its foliage that will remain. I have seen some superb examples of good planting (and also many examples of the opposite)!
The principal tasks I undertake are as follows:
ASSISTANCE WITH PLANT SELECTION/PLANTING
CREATION/ONGOING CARE OF BEDS, BORDERS, POTS AND TROUGHS
ROSE AND SHRUB PRUNING (this is an art and not the same as 'cutting back!')
POND CARE AND PLANTING
ALPINE/ACID/EXOTIC PLANTINGS
SOURCING ARCHES, PERGOLAS, URNS, PLANTERS AND OBELISKS
SOIL TESTING AND IMPROVEMENT
ASSISTANCE WITH CHOICE OF COMPOST/SAND/GRIT
MAKING COMPOST/LEAFMOULD
MULCHING/MULCH MATERIALS
PLANT PROPAGATION (seeds, cuttings, and division)
DIGGING, WEEDING, AND EDGING
SMALL LAWN WEED/FEED/SCARIFY/SPIKE
SIMPLE TOPIARY/HEDGE TRIMMING (not hedge cutting, which is cutting through woody stems)
I hope this helps you decide whether my skills are the ones you are looking for.
